The Future of Construction is Prefabrication

Date: Tuesday, November 16, 2021
Location: Online or the Fairmont Waterfront Hotel, 900 Canada Place, Vancouver
Time: 8:00 am – 4:00 pm PST
Cost: $129

BC Housing is pleased to support this important industry symposium to encourage knowledge sharing and best practice.

The future of construction is increasingly moving toward more advanced prefabrication systems. The reasons include labour shortages, building performance expectations and regulations, new materials, and the growing ability to integrate the design process directly with the manufacturing process. Prefabrication is enabling buildings to be built smarter, faster and more cost-effectively.

This workshop will bring together manufacturers, end-users, contractors, and researchers to highlight the advances in prefabrication methods, as well as provide guidance on current trends, correct misconceptions and identify options when considering how to design and build your next project.

Participants will :

  • Be introduced to different levels of prefabrication and the pros and cons of each

  • See examples of successful projects and how problems were addressed

  • Explore digital technology to increase productivity and quality

  • Learn how to incorporate off-site components in city buildings

This workshop will be of interest to contractors, designers, developers, manufacturers, building officials and other industry professionals.
